At diagnosis of type 1 diabetes, people are supported as a family by the health care team and group education reserved for consolidating knowledge and skills some time after the diagnosis is made.

The Childhood and Adolescent Diabetes Group in Scotland aim to facilitate the development of educational resources appropriate for young people.

Adults with type 1 diabetes

At diagnosis of type 1 diabetes, people are supported as a family by the health care team and group education reserved for consolidating knowledge and skills some time after the diagnosis is made. People living within an institutional setting are supported on a one to one basis by health care professionals.

Group education courses designed to support people as early as possible from diagnosis are addressed under type 1 diabetes, level 3 . Courses are presented by Managed Clinical Network (MCN) in each Health Board. Programmes that meet essential criteria of structured patient education have an * beside the programme title.
